A great letter to the editor by Jim Jensen was printed in the Sunday paper this weekend. Nice job Jim!

Here's the text:

PROPOSITION 2
Mayor wrong to say to no to parks

I disagree with Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels. We must maintain the momentum we now have in support of parks, trails and green spaces in Seattle. Land is not getting cheaper, and development of megahouses, condos and apartments continues to bring people and cars to our city. We need to keep adding parks and open spaces to maintain our quality of life.

Proposition 2 developed from the grassroots, from the diligent work of hundreds of volunteers with help from the City Council. It will provide resources for new projects and improvements in all areas of Seattle.

These are not new taxes. Prop 2 recognizes our fiscal challenges by cutting the property taxes paid under the current ProParks Levy. We will have several choices about how to spend public money on the ballot.

I hope Seattle residents remember to go to the end of the ballot and make Proposition 2 "Parks for All" their top priority.
