As we reach the home stretch of the campaign (and get hit with lame attempts by the Mayor to tell us why he's NOT voting for the levy), we want to know why you ARE voting for the levy.
This is this spot to do it. Make a statement, like the one below from Joyce Moty. Add photos to your statement, or, you can even make a short video of why you are voting for the levy. It's a quick, fun way to let others know why we need this levy to pass!
I am supporting this parks levy because there a lot of things to like in it.
As a p-patch gardener, I want it to pass because there is $2 million for developing more community gardens in hub urban villages specified in the neighborhood plans..
As a park steward in an Olmsted park, I welcome the $3.5 million for removing invasive plants and restoring our urban forests.
As an older adult, I appreciate the fact that kids need active spaces to play. So that is why I like the provisions in this levy to renovate 23 playgrounds and finally build some skate parks in SE and SW Seattle.
I also like that this levy will develop the first garden and play area for severely handicapped children in Seattle and possibly in the nation.
With the current economic crisis, it is even more important to have safe parks close to home to recreate and relax. Parks are democratic and anybody can use them.
As a homeowner of the average house, my taxes for the parks levy will be $82 a year or 25 cents a day. I think that 25 cents could be one of the best investments I can make today.
Please join me in voting YES for this parks levy.
